In this work we present the prototype of the AMS Italian Ground Segment Data Transfer System. Its goal is moving data for the AMS-02 experiment, which will take data on board of the International Space Station, from the Central Facility, located elsewhere, to an Italian Ground Segment, which will act as Master Copy of the whole experiment data sample. Data transfer has to be fast and reliable, and in order to achieve this goal we implemented a Data Transfer System, based on a SSL client/server architecture and a Data Base for book-keeping, with particular care for TCP parameters. The system has been successfully stress tested for more that 9 months and will be used for the experiment's Monte Carlo production. Technical implementation will be described and discussed in detail.
