Each ALMA antenna is designed to carry ten receiver cartridges covering the entire frequency range 30-950GHz which is visible from the ground, but receivers to cover all ten frequency bands are not currently being built. Band 1, covering 30-45GHz, may be part of the future development plans for ALMA. The Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics, which is currently building the Band 3 (84-116GHz) receiver cartridges, is carrying out R&D to develop a low-noise amplifier, orthomode transducer, and optics, which will meet the very strict requirements of Band 1 receivers for ALMA. We report on the current developments at HIA.
