In the present paper, Dmitriev's (1969) boundary conditions (which take the finite thickness of the surface layer into consideration) are adapted to a thin nonuniform spherical layer. These conditions are then used as a basis to develop a method of accounting for the distorting influence of nonuniform surface layer on the probing of magnetic variations.
