A solution to a system of transfer equations of Stokes parameters is presented for an assumption of propagation by Alfven waves. Calculations are also presented for the effects of Alfven waves on the Fe I gamma 6302.499 line in the sunspot spectra. The work was undertaken to investigate the possibility that Alfven waves are the mechanism which transports the energy flux outward from the sunspots, causing the observed line broadening and profile oscillations. Mean profiles were obtained over all the Alfven wave motions, and calculations were performed under the assumption that the plasma in the sunspots traversed by the Alfven waves was incompressible. It is noted that predicted Zeeman splitting of magneto-sensitive lines was not detectable using available instrumentation.
