Linear Landau damping on oblique Alfven waves is proposed as a significant dissipation mechanism acting on Alfvenic turbulence during propagation in the solar wind. A corresponding calculation of the evolution of the turbulent spectrum is shown to reproduce the main features of the Helios observations of magnetic turbulence. The characteristic behavior of dissipation length versus frequency derived from the data is well reproduced.
