The propagation of Alfven waves along geomagnetic field lines plays an important role in the interaction between the magnetosphere and the ionosphere. A previous study has shown that the matching of the Alfven wave with the dissipative layer is primarily affected by the Pedersen conductivity, which changes when an anomalous collision frequency (ACF) appears, the main role being played by the ACF for ions. The present study shows that a considerably higher value of Alfven-wave dissipation in the layer is obtained when the anomalous Pedersen conductivity is taken into account.
