Pulsar Magnetospheres: Plasma, Pulsar Magnetospheres: Alfven Waves

Scientific paper

The nonlinear propagation of Alfvén waves in a hot electron-positron plasma of a pulsar magnetosphere is investigated. Spiky intense Alfvén solitons are found to exist at ultrarelativistic (T ≫ M c2) temperatures. Landau damping and three dimensional modulation perturbation of these solitons are discussed.
