Albedo: Methods Of Observation

The authors present a new method for in-situ determination of the geometric optics albedo for a large single particle of arbitrary shape. Contrary to other methods, they can determine the albedo by utilizing basic geometric assumptions, and need no prior information of the particle surface structure, chemical composition, or optical properties. The authors show preliminary results for spherically shaped carbon particles with rough surface structure.
