We provide an overview of the latest five Polar Mesospheric Cloud (PMC) seasons as seen by the Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere (AIM) Cloud Imaging and Particle Size (CIPS) experiment. These PMC results are based on an algorithm similar to the Solar Backscatter Ultraviolet instrument (SBUV) algorithm. We provide an evaluation of CIPS nadir data by comparing to SBUV data. Using CIPS data at forward scattering angles leads to a higher sensitivity of cloud detections. CIPS cloud detections from forward and backward scattering angles are compared in order to relate of the sensitivity of occurrence frequency and cloud brightness to scattering angle.
