AGILE is detecting intense gamma-ray emission above 100 MeV from a source positionally consistent with BL Lacertae, at Galactic coordinates (l, b) = (93.3, -10.22) ± 0.8 (stat.) ± 0.1 (syst.) deg. Integrating from 2011-05-27 11:57:31 UT to 2011-05-29 11:30:51 UT (MJD: 55708.5-55709.5), a maximum likelihood analysis yields a detection at a significance level larger than 5 sigma and a flux F = (3.9 ± 1.2) x 10-6 ph/cm2/s (E > 100 MeV).
