In Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), nature has given us exquisite tools to survey the cosmos. Here we propose Gemini spectroscopy to classify and measure redshifts for 6 SN candidates discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) in the CANDELS and CLASH Multi-Cycle Treasury (MCT) programs in 2011A. Over 1600 HST orbits over the next three years will be devoted to the search and follow-up programs, and these treasured data sets must be supplemented by a suite of ground-based observations. Gemini+GMOS will provide spectra of the z < 1 SN discoveries, connecting the HST data set to ground-based samples at similar redshifts. These data will be essential for robust constraints on the time variation of dark energy, SN Ia evolution, and SN Ia rates and progenitor models.
