Scientific paper

Consideration is given to a low-voltage electrodistortive mirror system for wavefront control, a cooled deformable mirror, a Large Active Mirror Program, specification of fine-steering mirrors for line-of-sight stabilization systems, design of a high-bandwidth steering mirror for space-based optical communications, a comparison of piezoelectric and electrostrictive actuator stacks, and magnetostrictive actuators in optical design. Attention is also given to ferroelectric actuator testing for deformable mirror applications, simultaneous sensing and actuation using piezoelectric materials, wide field-of-view adaptive optics, and sensing and control system design of Multiple Aperture Real Time Image Normalization Instrument.
