Atmospheric cooling rates of the 15 μm CO2 band in the height range 30 - 110 km are calculated on the basis of spectral highly resolved transmittances (line-by-line). Simultaneous use of some approximations makes it possible to determine non-LTE cooling rates without knowledge of non-equilibrium source functions. Recent parameterizations produce relatively high accuracies and, therefore, are very useful for applications to dynamical and climate models.
