Scientific paper
The paper develops a method for analyzing the modulation of charged particles in the heliosphere and their acceleration by a standing shock wave limiting the supersonic region of the solar-wind flow. The method makes it possible to separate the particle-modulation process accompanied by energy losses from the regular-acceleration process at the shock front. The method describes random particle motions in the diffusion approximation, can be used to interpret solutions of the transport equation, and makes it possible to obtain approximate solutions for arbitrary coefficients of particle diffusion. The resulting particle spectrum is analyzed.
