Scientific paper

An analysis of early time spectra of Type Ia Supernovae is presented. A
new method to derive a detailed abundance distribution of the SN ejecta
through comparison with synthetic spectra, called “Abundance
Tomography” is introduced and applied to the normal SN Ia 2002bo.
Conclusions regarding the explosion mechanism are drawn.
