Beryllium: Oscillator Strengths, Beryllium: Absorption Spectra

Scientific paper

Absorption spectra of Be I and Be II have been observed in the visible spectral range with a new experimental technique. A laser-produced Be plasma acts as the absorbing medium while a dye laser is used for backlighting the Be plasma. Transitions between excited levels have been observed in absorption, and relative oscillator strength ratios of the Be II lines from levels n = 3 to n = 4 have been measured.
