The Strong method for measuring reflectance is used in many laboratories. However, uncertainty in the angular position of the sample can lead to large errors. A novel use of an autocollimator telescope with two auxiliary mirrors (ACTAM) can reduce this angular uncertainty and lead to more accurate measurement of reflectance. The instrumentation, its adjustment, measurement procedure, results, and uncertainties are discussed. The total uncertainty for the reflectance measurement of a gold mirror was found to be less than 0.0025 over the wavelength region 2 to 22 microns.
