The problem of absolute solar spectrophotometry is briefly reviewed. Consideration is given to the need to introduce a set of standardized measurements of the spectral density of the energy brightness. The method for making the measurements is presented, including the requirements of the measuring instruments. Possible error sources are examined and methods for reducing errors are analyzed.
