The High-Energy Antimatter Telescope (HEAT) balloon-borne magnet spectrometer was used to measure the absolute energy and rigidity spectra of cosmic-ray protons and helium. Although the primary goal of the HEAT experiment is the measurement of electron and positron abundances at high energy, a large sample of high energy protons and helium were also collected. This observation is compared with other recent balloon experiments (including other magnet spectrometers) and with theoretical expectations. Some flattening of the helium spectrum above ~50 GeV is observed, consistent with other measurements and with some models of non-linear shock acceleration.
