The ENTICE instrument is one of two instruments that comprise the Heavy Nuclei Explorer (HNX), which we have proposed as a Small Explorer mission. ENTICE will be sensitive to nuclei heavier than neon and energies above 0.3 GeV/nuc. It will for the first time measure the abundance and energy spectrum of even and odd Z cosmic ray nuclei with Z between 26 and 83 with energy resolution up to 10 GeV/nuc. The other instrument on HNX is ECCO (see Westphal et al, this conference). Major objectives of ENTICE are to determine whether volatility or first ionization potential control the injection of particles into the cosmic rays and to study the history of nucleosynthesis in the galactic cosmic ray source.
