Absolute stellar fluxes derived from measurements obtained with the Ultraviolet Sky Survey Telescope (UVSST) aboard the TD 1 satellite are based on results of independent calibration measurements performed at two laboratories before the launch of the spacecraft. The calibrations utilized two different primary absolute standards, an absolute radiometric detector and a blackbody source. The results of those measurements are presented, and the procedures used to obtain them are described along with the absolute standards employed. Essential features of the UVSST are reviewed; the procedures for determining the optical response of the instrument are outlined. The calibration results are discussed in terms of absolute photometric and spectrophotometric efficiencies, spectrophotometric passband profiles, and wavelength limits for nonvignetted portions of the spectrometer channels. Measured UV flux-density distributions of nine early-type stars are provided to illustrate the scale on which absolute flux measurements with the UVSST are based.
