The virial tensor method is applied to the investigation of the dynamics of a nonhomogeneous triaxial ellipsoid. The conditions for the rotation of the ellipsoid around any of its principal axes are derived. It is found that in the rotation around the intermediate axis stable orbits, closed in the main plane, may exist. The observational consequences for different cases of orientation of elliptical galaxies relative to their rotational axes are considered.
