A three-component model (electrons, protons, H atoms) for the interaction between the local interstellar medium and the solar wind is considered. A numerical analysis is performed to determine how the resonance charge exchange in interstellar H atoms that have penetrated the solar wind would affect the two-shock model developed by Baranov et al. (1979). In particular, if the ratio of the number density of H atoms to the electrons in the local ISM is greater than ten, the inner shock may approach the sun as closely as the outer planetary orbits.
