A thermal model for Phobos and Deimos is proposed as the basis for interpreting radiometric data of the Martian satellites. The model includes effects such as reflected and thermal radiation of Mars, ellipsoidal shape, and the strong temperature dependence of the heat conduction coefficient. Model results are presented for the diurnal temperature behavior for various latitudes and longitudes to demonstrate the impact of these effects in the thermal characteristics of Phobos and Deimos.
