It is shown that, in the presence of a broadband source, a local field line can oscillate at its Alfven resonance frequency (or frequencies) if the frequency band of the source covers the resonance frequency (or frequencies). The result shows that it is possible in theory to observe an L-dependence in magnetic pulsations during a given event. The difficulty of observing L-dependent pulsations on the ground may arise from a shielding effect of the ionosphere if the localization of such oscillations occurs within an ion's equatorial Larmor radius.
