A method for deriving nonlinear integral equations for hydrostatic tides is proposed. It is applicable to the forms and gravitational fields of planets and satellites with simultaneous calculations of tides and rotations. In linear approximation the equations yield a single integral expression which corresponds to a Clairaut-type differential equation for hydrostatic tides. A step-by-step transition to various differential forms of known equations of linear approximation for the harmonics of the height of a level surface, Love functions, and Love numbers is discussed. A new integral form of a linear equation for hydrostatic Love numbers is given.
