During a year-long program of CCD photometric monitoring of eighty five Cepheid variable (pulsating) stars searching for period changes associated with their stellar evolution, a serendipitous discovery of a new, bright eclipsing binary star-- the early-type, high luminosity emission line star BD+48 1098--was made in the same field as that of the well known pulsating star BM Persei.
