Presented is a detailed review of the literature on the topic of transfer orbits, with emphasis on transfers between the earth and the moon. Most of the material presented here is of general interest for those studying orbital maneuvers. Several possibilities of mathematical models for the dynamics and for the actuators are explained. Classical and modern methods are shown. Although it is not the main objective of this paper, suggestions for new techniques are presented.
