The percentage of night-time cloud cover has been estimated for 21 mountain sites in southwestern British Columbia from a study of infrared satellite images. These data are used to compute the expected number of hours of cloud-free dark sky for each site. A roughly circular area extending from Kamloops to Merritt was found to have the smallest probability of cloud cover and the largest number of cloud-free dark hours.
