It is noted that the Basano-Hughes (1979) law of planetary distances
coincides with Armellini's 1921 formula. In addition, the Titus-Bode law
is shown to presuppose acquaintance with a large number of related
topics, such as the stability and evolution of the planetary system,
resonance, the origin of the asteroid belt, etc.
