We analyse the column density (NH) and emission lines in the galaxy 3C 120 with a view to testing if the observed NH from the source is intrinsic or whether it has a significant contribution arising from the underlying intergalactic materials (IGM) lying along the line of sight to the source. Our result seems to indicate that the observed column density of 3C 120 is largely intrinsic and is therefore not directly contributed by our own galaxy, the Milky Way.
Une analyse de la densité de colonne (NH) et des raies d'émission dans la galaxie 3C 120 est réalisée. L'objectif étant de vérifier si la valeur de NH observée est intrinsèque a la source ou dépend de façon significative du milieu intergalactique entre la source et l'observateur. Notre résultat indique que la valeur observée de la colonne de densité de 3C 120 est d'origine principalement intrinsèque et n'est donc pas directement affectée de façon significative par notre Galaxie, la Voie Lactée.
