TX CVn is a spectroscopic binary. The components are a B9V and a K0III star, the orbital period is about 71 d. The distance of the star is about 1300 pc. The spectrum of the star shows emission- and absorption features due to a shell. The flux in the H alpha emission cannot be explained if the B9V star is the only source of ionizing radiation. The IR measurements of Swings and Allen (1972) show that TX CVn has a strong IR excess which cannot be explained by thermal bremsstrahlung and may be due to dust emission.
