Using the dynasonde implementation of IDI (Imaging Doppler Interferometry), nearly three years of mesospheric wind measurements have been acquired at the Utah State University Bear Lake Observatory (41.9° N, 111.4° W). These data reveal diurnal, semi-diurnal, and ter-diurnal variations as well as planetary wave features that are consistent with the results derived from other MF and meteor radar studies. Furthermore, the IDI technique has been verified against mesospheric wind measurements derived from a co-sited VHF meteor wind radar. In this study, the high frequency wave-like features often detected in the IDI wind velocities and generally attributed to atmospheric gravity waves, are examined in the context of simultaneous optical and radar measurements from the same location. The available instrumentation includes ionospheric measurements with the dynasonde, OH Meinel temperature measurements at 95 km from the USU/CEDAR Mesospheric Temperature Mapper and the multi-wavelength airglow imager.
