Our analysis of archival HST images of the nuclear region of M33 reveal that the old, red stars are more centrally concentrated to the nucleus than the young star forming disk. We will extend our investigation of the stellar populations near the nucleus of M33 out to a radial distance of 10 arcmin by doing a WFPC2 strip survey of all M33 stars brighter than I~23.0 mag from the nucleus to the nearby globular cluster H38. The detection limit of the survey is about 2.3 mag below the tip of the red giant branch of the Population II stars in M33. This survey will allow us to separate the bulge population from the disk on the basis of their spatial distributions and we will also cover a large enough radial distance from the nucleus to measure directly the effective radius of the spheroid population. Our discovery of a large abundance spread of at least 1.5 dex found in the population II red giants near the nucleus of M33 suggests that the the chemical evolution of the nuclear region was considerably different than that of the M33 halo. This survey should provide valuable information about the formation and chemical evolution of the nuclear region of M33. These images will show whether M33 has a bulge that is much younger than its halo, how its oldest populations are related to the disk, and how the spheroid is related to the nucleus. This kind of detailed study is possible only in M33 because of its proximity, face-on inclination, low surface brightness, and well defined population II.
