The work of Hardy et al. (1987) resulted in the production of hemispheric maps of the integral number flux and integral energy flux of precipitating ions for each of seven levels of activity as defined by Kp. In order to facilitate the use of these maps in magnetosheric, ionospheric, and thermospheric models, they have been fitted to a functional form using a described method. The fit provides a representation of the statistical model of auroral ion precipitation and offers a simple method for reconstructing the hemispheric precipitation patterns without storing the large data matrices of the original model. The reconstructed model can be used to specify for any corrected gomagnetic latitude and Kp level the average integral energy flux, integral number flux, and average energy for the precipitating ions.
