A statistical model of a communication channel across the ionospheric Es layer is presented which is based on a representation of the maximal usable frequency as a stochastic process. Analytical expressions are obtained for calculating the statistical characteristics of the communication channel across the ionospheric Es layer from ionospheric station data and technical parameters of the transmitting-receiving systems.
