We propose using the 4-meter Blanco telescope and the Hydra Spectrograph for three half-nights to observe blue plume stars associated with the Canis Major Over-density (CMO). Using photometry obtained on the 0.9m telescope at CTIO we have identified two fields of a size well-suited to Hydra, containing a large number of blue plume candidate stars. We intend to use the resulting radial velocities and chemical abundances of these stars to determine whether the blue plume is consistent with being part of sub-structure of the galactic disk or part of a disrupted dwarf galaxy. The nature of the blue plume is important to arguments both in favor and against a dwarf galaxy origin to the CMO. We plan to answer this question.
