The design criteria of a scintillator telescope for high energy electrons, consisting of plastic scintillators, a BGO preshower detector, a segmented BGO calorimeter and an aerogel Cherenkov counter are discussed. The performance of the telescope is described using the data collected in an inclusive electron scattering experiment around 1 GeV, with emphasis on the efficiency to electrons, which is enhanced by the analysis of the complete information provided by such a multidetector system.
