The spatially homogeneous plane-wave vacuum solutions of the Einstein
fieldequation can describe the behaviour, at late times and near the
initial singularity, of spatially homogeneous cosmological models. A new
family of spatially homogeneous exact solutions with perfect fluid
source is given to illustrate this plane-wave initial singularity.
