A single chip counter has been developed in the Space Science Department
(SSD) of ESTEC. This Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) is
to be produced as a space qualified device, and realised in Silicon on
Sapphire (SOS) technology. This technology has the twin advantages of
very high radiation tolerance (100 krad) and is latch up free.
