Interplanetary Magnetic Field: Solar Active Regions

It is shown that intensified variations (duration of the order of one hour) of the variability of the IMF are caused by an agent originating in the filament or filament channel in solar active regions. It is most probable that the exciting agent is a closed plasma volume, carried away from the corona by a slow solar wind. The velocity of the Sun-to-Earth transport is ≡350 km/s.
