We propose to obtain SNAPSHOT high-resolution STIS echelle observations of theinterstellar absorption lines between 1160 and 1370 Angstroms towards a sample ofstars with known UV fluxes which have been previously observed with FUSEor high proper motion stars with previous HST/STIS 1271Å observations.By taking advantage of the SNAPSHOT observing mode wewill efficiently obtain large numbers of spectra of O and B-type stars for ISMstudies. Our goals are to explore the homogeneity of the ISM on large scales and to search for variations in interstellar absorption lines indicative of small scale structure.. The selected wavelength range containsnumerous interstellar absorption lines which enable us to measure the physicalproperties {density, temperature, depletions} in individual components. By takingadvantage of differential Galactic rotation we can probe clouds as a function ofGalactic radius, and differentiate between various models for interstellarenrichment.;
