Simulations were performed of time-dependent reconnection with current- and drift-velocity-dependent resistivity to study plasmoid formation in a current field where the field lines are free to move at all boundaries. The simulations predict a streaming reversal close to the separatrix with an earthward streaming in the lobe of the distant tail. The results are discussed in relation to recent observations by ISEE 3 in the distant tail.
