The paper develops a relatively simple diagnostic scheme for determining integral parameters (including the values of the emf, currents, power, effective resistance, and induction) of the equivalent electric circuit in the polar magnetosphere. The initial data include values of the solar wind parameters and of geomagnetic indices AE and D(st). The diagnostic scheme is recommended for use in studies of magnetospheric disturbances when the less labor-consuming methods, such as the magnetogram inversion technique, cannot be used.
