The presented model is related to the occurrence of singularities in a Friedmann cosmology. The model makes it possible to obtain analytic solutions which should provide qualitative insight into the results that may be available from a more complete theory. The model makes use of a 'mini-phase space' calculation in which a massive scalar field is quantized in the background geometry of a Friedmann universe.
