When the heating of a star core due to the adiabatic gravitational collapse is not enough, the homogeneous material of a star must undergo a catastrophe analogous to the phase transition. The growth of the structure at the catastrophe is discussed. For low average densities, the characteristic length scale grows as t2/5, while for high densities it grows as t2/3, as a function of time t.
