One of the main goals of an RXTE AO2 observing campaign was to observe a series of eclipse ingresses and egresses in Her X-1. Nine ingresses and egresses were observed during AO2. They fall into two categories: rapid ingresses and egresses, which are due to extinction of a point-like x-ray source by the extended atmosphere at the limb of HZ Her; and extended ingresses and egresses, which are not well understood. .
