A simple axisymmetric dynamo mechanism is proposed that may relate to the problem of magnetic field generation in stars and sunspots. The dynamo effect appears in jet-like flows, where the velocity and induction are inversely proportional to the distance from the origin. There is no contradiction with the well-known Cowling result, since the conditions of the antidynamo theorem require stronger damping at infinity. In swirling jet flows, bifurcation of the MHD regime occurs in the direction of lower Reynolds numbers, and the transition from a purely hydrodynamic to an MHD regime therefore has a hysteresis character. It is also shown that self-generation of the magnetic field may cause lamination at large Reynolds numbers.
