The emission features observed in the spectra of AM Her at 4550-4610 A
and of MV Lyr near 4200 A may be interpreted as electron cyclotron
lines. The degenerate dwarf components of these binary systems would
then have surface magnetic fields of 2.3 + or - 0.1 x 10 to the 8th and
2.6 + or - 0.2 x 10 to the 8th gauss.
