We present a quantitative description of $J/\psi$ and $\psi^\prime$
suppression in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at CERN energies.
We use a conventional hadronic framework based on nuclear absorption plus final
state interaction of the $J/\psi$ or $\psi^\prime$ with co-moving hadrons.
